With less than three hours until the U.S. plays Australia at a stadium in Seattle, the lowest ticket price is $1,447, according to TicketData.com. That’s 34% lower than three days ago, but for one of the most significant international sporting events in Seattle’s history, it’s still serious money. TickPick’s app lists just 11 sets of tickets, most of which cost between $2,591 and $3,480, and two seats in the lower bowl are priced at $12,313. StubHub is no longer selling tickets for this match, and SeatGeek has taken down its resale listings three hours before kickoff—so fans hoping for a last-minute deal have nothing to count on.
For comparison, Monday’s Belgium–Egypt game—the first of six matches in Seattle—finished with a lowest price of $442. And the final group-stage match for the U.S. against Turkey on June 25 in Los Angeles currently has a minimum price of $2,136. Given that shortage and the fierce demand, even the “down” prices for the Australia game remain out of reach for most fans—but for those willing to splurge, it’s a chance to touch football history.
