Ten-Year-Old Girl Rescued from Lake Tapps

On Sunday, a ten-year-old girl was pulled from the water at Lake Tapps after witnesses noticed that she was drowning. The incident occurred near North Lake Tapps Park, a popular spot for swimming and boating. The girl was about 10–20 feet from shore. Pierce County sheriff’s deputies arrived at approximately 2 p.m. About ten minutes later, she was pulled from the water, and one of the deputies began performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation. She was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but by 5 p.m. her condition had improved and was listed as stable.

Sheriff’s deputies remained at the scene, questioning witnesses and the girl’s relatives. Lake Tapps has previously been the site of a fatal incident: in August 2025, a 55-year-old man died while swimming. His relatives pulled him from the water and, together with arriving rescuers, attempted to perform CPR, but he could not be saved.
