Paul Dorpat, a renowned historian of Seattle and Washington state, died May 27 at the age of 87. For many years, he enthusiastically shared the region’s history with residents, helping them better understand its development and cultural heritage. A public memorial event is planned in his honor; before the pandemic, Dorpat was also remembered for his kind and unusual habit of tossing French fries over his shoulder to the seagulls.
