Grand Central Bakery has recalled more than 500 loaves of sourdough potato bread sold in Seattle and Tacoma. The recall was prompted by a pallet nail found inside one loaf. It affects a single batch of dough prepared Monday, including large potato loaves, regular table bread and mini loaves.
The large and mini loaves were sold at grocery stores, while the table bread was sold directly at Grand Central Bakery cafés and through wholesale customers. The products may have reached Central Co-op, Fred Meyer, PCC, QFC, Whole Foods and other stores in the region. No injuries or illnesses have been reported; the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) was notified. Customers who purchased the bread on Monday are advised to discard it and contact the bakery at 503-232-0575 or through its website.
