New Trader Joe's to Open in Woodinville on Friday

The first Trader Joe's in the city of Woodinville, located at 14035 N.E. Woodinville Duvall Road, will open this Friday. For locals this is a long-awaited event: previously the nearest Trader Joe's was in the Totem Lake area of Kirkland. City council member Mike Millman announced the opening on Facebook a year ago, sharing the three most popular comments from residents: "Did anyone hear a loud bang?", "I saw a bear in my neighborhood!" and "I hope they open a Trader Joe's there!".

While a grocery-store opening might seem ordinary, Trader Joe's is a true cult favorite among shoppers thanks to its unique products with clean labels. The chain is especially popular in the Pacific Northwest, home to many health-conscious, casual-lifestyle fans. Last year hundreds of people lined up for the opening of the Greenwood store in Seattle, coinciding with the TikTok frenzy over Trader Joe's mini bags.

The mania around Trader Joe's bags sometimes flares up again: in March of this year shoppers in New York even shoved each other to get pastel limited-edition bags. And on May 20 the chain is releasing new summer zippered coolers, so if you plan to visit the new Woodinville store that day, arrive early—or be mentally prepared for chaos!
