King County to Create Park on Former Asphalt Plant Site

King County has purchased the site of a former asphalt plant, where it plans to create a new public park. The project is the result of years of opposition from environmental activists who fought industrial development along the Cedar River. Bob Baker, a member of the Save the Cedar River group, recalls that activists did everything they could to delay construction until officials and the owners eventually abandoned their original plans.
