A light-rail train heading to the Eastside descends toward the floating pontoons on Lake Washington at nearly highway speed. This was made possible by a unique design for the track supports where the I-90 bridge connects the shore to its floating section. The solution enabled a passenger rail line to run across a floating bridge — the first project of its kind in the world.
