The U.S. National Weather Service is warning residents of Seattle and all of western Washington about an upcoming heat spell lasting from Saturday through Monday. Temperatures will reach 26–27°C on Saturday and up to 29°C on Sunday. Meteorologists assess the chance of a "moderate heat risk" at 90–100% across much of the region. That means people who are heat-sensitive, as well as those without access to cool indoor spaces or enough water, should be especially careful.
Dry, warm conditions raise the risk of low‑intensity wildfires on Sunday and Monday, particularly along roadways where grass and other vegetation are most vulnerable. Rescuers urge residents to be extremely careful with open flames and other ignition sources. The good news: cooler weather is expected to arrive on Tuesday, and temperatures will begin to drop gradually.
