Over the past weekend, an unidentified person made threats against Grand Cinema in Tacoma (Washington state). Police thoroughly searched the building twice, but management decided—just to be safe—not to open on Sunday. As executive director Elizabeth Calhoun explained, officers confirmed the threat was no longer in place and that the premises were fully safe, so the theater resumed operations on Monday.
To reduce risks, the administration has introduced temporary measures: this week, visitors are prohibited from bringing bags inside, and overall monitoring has been stepped up. Calhoun stressed that the incident was not connected to the current screenings or the lineup. Tacoma police have not yet shared details of the investigation, limiting themselves to a statement that there is no new information for the public.
