By noon on Monday, June 29, residents of Bellevue, Redmond and Issaquah (Seattle’s Eastside suburbs) can apply to participate in the Pedal Forward Eastside e-bike rebate program. Anyone over 16 is eligible—after the application window closes on Tuesday, recipients will be selected at random from the pool of applicants.
The rebate amount depends on income level: families with an annual income up to 80% of the area median will receive $2,000, while others will get $500. Given that the cost of a new e-bike ranges from $1,500 to $3,000 depending on specifications, this assistance can significantly reduce the financial burden. Selected participants will need to verify their address and income.
The certificate can only be used at participating program stores (online purchases and used bikes do not qualify). After receiving the rebate, you’ll have 7 days to submit paperwork and 60 days to buy the bike. If any funds remain after purchasing the bicycle, they can be used for protective gear: a helmet, a lock and a light. The program is funded by a grant from Puget Sound Energy and aims to make electric transportation more accessible to residents in the region.
