A Raccoon Surprise Appears in the Stands During Seattle Mariners Game

During the Seattle Mariners’ match against the Detroit Tigers—an event dedicated to the famous Ballard-area raccoon Jimothy—another raccoon was spotted right under the stadium ceiling. Fans quickly took to the internet: on Reddit, they dubbed it “Dumpster Danoti” and “Jimothy’s cousin.” One user said the raccoon was sitting high up in the upper tiers, “gathered a small crowd of fans,” and, it seemed, brought the Mariners good luck—the team won.

Jimothy himself became a viral sensation in July, after social media videos surfaced showing the raccoon with a shortened spine. In his honor, the club held a full celebration: the first 20,000 fans received a collectible rookie card featuring Jimothy, special jerseys were also released, and the team’s signature Jimothy character took part in the traditional “Salmon Run” on the field. The appearance of “the cousin” was an unexpected—yet fun—extra to the night.
