Venezuelan authorities have commissioned the TZ5 thermal power unit at the General Rafael Urdaneta Complex (Termozulia) in the municipality of La Cañada de Urdaneta, Zulia state. The unit has added 150 MW to the country’s National Electric System, which should improve power distribution and increase the stability of electricity supplies to local communities. Electricity Minister Rolando Alcalá announced this during a broadcast on state television channel Venezolana de Televisión, noting that the work was carried out as part of the national plan for the maintenance, organization, and technical servicing of the energy sector to meet growing demand.
