Venezuelan President Delcy Rodríguez said that the recently concluded oil agreement with the United States does not limit the country’s right to own and manage its resources. According to her, the 25-year agreement should provide access to the U.S. financing, technology and production capabilities needed to restore the oil industry, which has been damaged by years of sanctions. The president emphasized that increased production should contribute to economic development, create new opportunities and improve people’s well-being. Rodríguez also pledged to ensure public oversight: citizens should know how much oil is being produced, how investments are being spent and what benefits the agreement brings to the state.
