Acting President of Venezuela Delcy Rodríguez held a working meeting with national and international authorities to coordinate the phases of a plan to clear and remove debris in the state of La Guaira. The meeting was attended by the secretaries for public works and digital government, as well as the head of the commission responsible for assessing the suitability of infrastructure. International technical support was provided by Israel’s Ambassador Gassan Tarif and a representative of that country’s technical commission, Elad Edri, to optimize logistical protocols ahead of the rollout of work in the affected areas.
The assessments are based on a diagnosis carried out jointly with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), which identified the total volume of construction debris in the coastal region at 1,025,000 tons. About 900,000 tons are accounted for by destroyed concrete and steel structures, while the remainder is damaged household property of affected families. The strategy provides for the use of controlled demolition methods and the safe processing of waste, aimed at restoring urban spaces while ensuring protection for local communities.
