UNHCR Announces Greater Support for Affected Venezuelan Communities

During his first visit to Venezuela, UN High Commissioner for Refugees Barham Salih met with families rebuilding their lives after the recent earthquakes, as well as people returning home after several years away. He visited affected areas and temporary shelters, where he saw residents’ resilience, hope, and determination to build a safe and dignified future.

Salih held talks with local authorities and humanitarian organizations. UNHCR continues to assist earthquake survivors and internally displaced communities, while the head’s visit marks strengthened cooperation with Venezuelan institutions. The main focus will be humanitarian assistance, protection, and support for the most vulnerable groups.
