During an unofficial visit to Ireland, U.S. President Donald Trump said that elections in Venezuela should be held when the country and its citizens are ready. Asked by journalists when the vote might take place, he briefly replied: “When they are ready.” Trump also claimed that Venezuelans are “very happy” and noted increased activity in the oil sector: according to him, major energy companies are entering the country, drilling volumes and oil-revenue receipts are rising, benefiting both Venezuela and the United States.
