U.S. President Donald Trump said that an agreement with Venezuela would allow development of its oil reserves to begin in record time, rejecting analysts’ estimates of two to three years. He called the deal “the largest oil agreement in world history” and said it involved reserves worth trillions of dollars. According to Trump, the United States would obtain a controlling stake in the development of more than 65 billion barrels of Venezuelan oil, which is expected to be used, among other things, to quickly replenish the country’s strategic reserves.
