Oscar Schémel, president of the research company Hinterlaces, said that sovereignty, peace, and unity are becoming the foundation of Venezuela’s emerging national identity. According to him, most citizens are tired of political confrontation and now favor agreement and consensus. This is especially evident on economic issues, where positions are currently converging to an unprecedented degree. Schémel believes that ideology and politics are no longer ends in themselves but are viewed as tools for achieving prosperity, happiness, and social advancement, while confrontation has failed to produce the results the country expected. The analyst also called the current period an important stage of pragmatism and a reassessment of relations with the United States, stressing that this involves not only an oil contract but also the beginning of a new oil doctrine under Venezuelan President Delcy Rodríguez.
