Israeli forces conduct raid in Daraa and detain local residents

According to the official Syrian television channel Al-Ikhbariya, Israeli soldiers entered the village of Abidin in western Daraa province in approximately ten vehicles on Monday morning and detained several young men. No further details about the size of the unit or the circumstances of the detentions have yet been reported.

The raid took place amid Israel’s ongoing operations in southern Syria. A day earlier, Israeli forces searched several villages in Quneitra province, set up a temporary checkpoint in the village of Saida al-Jolan, and checked passersby. Local sources also reported that five military vehicles entered the village of Jabata al-Khashab and that one of the houses was searched; Israeli military aircraft were also seen flying over the region.

The day before that, Israeli units entered the Yarmouk River basin, moving from the Tal Abu al-Ghayzar area toward the village of Jamla. Eight vehicles took up positions on a bridge near the village of Saysun amid residential neighborhoods, while soldiers periodically opened fire toward the Maaria Valley. These events formed part of a months-long escalation in southern Syria involving raids, the detention of civilians, and the establishment of military posts. Following the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s government in December 2024, Israel announced that it was ending the 1974 disengagement agreement and established control over the buffer zone.
