Israeli forces have once again stepped up operations in southern Syria, blowing up sites near Qalaat Jandal fortress on the slopes of Mount Hermon, including a former post belonging to the army of the ousted regime and a border outpost. In addition, after midnight, artillery fired two shells at farmland on the outskirts of the town of Jamlah, west of Daraa. Earlier, strikes hit several areas in the countryside of Quneitra, near Western Samadaniyah, the Bir Ajam forest and the village of Rafid, where, according to local media, four artillery shells exploded.
According to the Sijil Center, which monitors Israeli military operations in Syria, the wadis of Abidin and al-Raqad in the Yarmouk Basin area in western Daraa province came under fire at dawn. Illumination shells were also fired over Wadi Abidin. New ground raids were reported in the same area: eight Israeli vehicles entered the areas of Qudna and Ain Zivan, heading toward Tal Ahmar al-Sharqi, and then withdrew, while two tanks and two armored vehicles advanced deeper into Wadi al-Raqad.
In central Quneitra province, field sources reported that Israeli forces set up a temporary checkpoint on Monday morning, consisting of approximately 10 military vehicles, at the entrance to the Rasm al-Halabi area. These incidents continue a series of escalations in southern Syria after Tel Aviv declared the 1974 disengagement agreement void following the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime in December 2024. Since then, Israeli forces have expanded their presence and entrenched themselves in the buffer zone.
