Speaking at a UN forum, Venezuelan President Delcy Rodríguez once again asserted the country’s historical rights to the territory of Guayana Esequiba and officially called on the Guyanese authorities to resume dialogue under the 1966 Geneva Agreement. She stressed that the border dispute should be resolved directly by the two states involved in the conflict, rather than through external bodies. According to Rodríguez, bilateral agreements are generally more enduring and can lead to a practical, mutually acceptable solution.
