On August 22, Venezuelan President Delcy Rodríguez ordered the activation of the civil protection system to respond immediately to the consequences of heavy rains in Greater Caracas. According to her, Tropical Wave No. 40 is passing over the country, while global climate change is intensifying extreme weather events. Downpours have already caused flooding and road closures in the areas of El Valle, Coche, Antímano and La Vega, as well as in Miranda state. National and local services are working in the hardest-hit areas, assessing damage, clearing roads and responding to residents’ requests as the rain continues. Authorities recommend following further updates through official and reliable sources.
