Venezuela’s acting president, Delcy Rodríguez, held a bilateral meeting with Chilean President José Antonio Kast on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York. The talks took place in a friendly atmosphere and focused on beginning a new stage of normalization and strengthening bilateral ties following the diplomatic rupture between the two countries in 2024. Both delegations called the meeting a step toward resuming dialogue and diplomatic engagement; Rodríguez said that Chile and Venezuela were once again finding common ground through negotiations and mutual respect.
